There was disappointment for Leitrim and Kiltubrid Ladies football when star forward Aine Tighe missed out on further recognition of her talents at last Saturday’s TG4 Ladies Football All-Star Awards in the CityWest Hotel.

Aine has been nominated for both an All-Star Award in the forwards and the TG4 Intermediate Championship Player’s Player of the Year after another fantastic season with Leitrim and Kiltubrid but unfortunately missed out as All-Ireland Senior winners Cork dominated with six awards.

The Player’s Intermediate Player of the Year award was won by Waterford’s Aileen Wall, voted Player of the Match in the Munster county’s victory over Leitrim in the All-Ireland Semi-Final in the Gaelic Grounds Limerick.

Mayo legend Cora Staunton won her tenth ladies football All Star, equalling the record of Kerry’s Mary Jo Curran while All-Ireland runners-up Dublin received four awards with one award each for Kerry, Mayo, Monaghan and Armagh.
