On Saturday December 5, at 3pm the footballers of Leitrim will take on Meath in the first ever tournament for the Michael Reynolds cup, being held in Millbrook, Oldcastle, Co. Meath. This will be a chance to get a look at players who have shone during the 2015 club championships line out for their senior county teams.

The game is in honour of the late Michael Reynolds, originally from Aughavas Co Leitrim and with whom he played in four senior county finals winning two in 1963 and 1966. He also won two All Ireland Colleges medals with St. Mels of Longford in 1962 and 1963. His brothers Frank (RIP), Jack, Anthony and Brendan also played with Aughavas.

He settled in Oldcastle, Meath, in 1972 and became an active member of Oldcastle GFC and played for many years. A plaque will be unveiled in Michael’s honour after the game at the Show Hall in Oldcastle which he helped restore and where he sadly passed.
