The long running saga of the Leitrim GAA Centre of Excellence may be coming to an end as County Board Secretary Diarmuid Sweeney reveals it will open it’s doors next month.

In his report to next Monday’s Leitrim GAA County Board Convention, Diarmuid writes “Next month will see the opening of the Leitrim GAA Centre of Excellence, a new era for Leitrim GAA. This facility will provide a base from which Leitrim teams of the future can prepare and prose spore.

“This project has taken time but this was necessary so as not to place a financial burden on our clubs and Leitrim GAA.”

The conclusion of the long running project, which had been hampered by funding and planning delays, will be welcome news to the County’s teams who will use the centre as a base for their training.

Ground was first broken on the project back in 2008 with then new managers Mickey Moran and John Morrison visiting the site on the day they were unveiled to the county’s supporters.
