Leitrim’s famed spirit and character was all too evident in the second half last Sunday against Sligo, prompting an unlikely comeback that could have snatched far more than a draw.

Yet as pleased as he will have been by the resolve shown by his troops, Sean Hagan will know that there are a lot of areas that need immediate attention ahead of the National League.

The worrying amount of chances coughed up by the Leitrim defence, a dominant Sligo midfield and an over-reliance on Emlyn Mulligan are all areas that need to be addressed and are sure to be addressed by Hagan.

Credit must be given for the immense physical condition of this Leitrim team who were full of hard running in the second half, right up to the final whistle, a factor that contributed greatly to Leitrim’s second half comeback.
