CELEBRATING THE PAST AS LEITRIM LOOK TO THE FUTURE

As the GAA prepare to celebrate its past next Sunday, Leitrim's County Board is preparing for the future as they seek nominations for the vacant County Senior team manager.

The Bush Hotel in Carrick-on-Shannon will host a unique “Leitrim Celebration” next Sunday evening, July 31, at which specially commissioned trophies of Leitrim Crystal, suitably inscribed, will be presented to the iconic Leitrim footballers Cathal Flynn and Pakie McGarty.

Most GAA fans in the county will, however, be focussed more on the future as Leitrim GAA invited applications for the vacant County Senior team manager post for 2017.

In the statement, the Board stated “An email has been sent to all Leitrim GAA Club Secretaries inviting nominations of suitably qualified personnel. The Club is advised that they must have the permission of the person they may choose to nominate, before doing so.

“In addition to this, Leitrim GAA Management Committee invites applications from persons who may have an interest in the position. Interested parties should apply in writing and submit a CV with details of coaching qualifications, and management experience for consideration by email to secretary.leitrim@gaa.ie by Friday August 5.

“The Selection Committee will give all nominations and applications fair consideration as part of the ongoing process in the selection of Leitrim GAA's next Senior Football Manager.”

On Sunday, the Leitrim Celebration commences at 8pm with a Gala Dinner and continuing with entertainment by the Leitrim Percy French Singers and many other items, there will also be the launch of “Leitrim Stór”, a book continuing Leitrim’s historic, social & human interest stories.

Tickets cost €25 and more details of the event are on page 80 of this week’s Observer.
