It mightn’t have been the biggest crowd in Pairc Sean’s history and Wicklow provided at least half of the 3,346 crowd but joint manager Brian Breen paid tribute to the immense part the Leitrim crowd played in Saturday’s historic Qualifier victory.

“The crowd were fantastic today,” Brian told the Observer, “I put an appeal out in the Observer last week for support and in fairness, they responded today. It was definitely worth a few points.

“I know from experience, in a game of that intensity, in the last ten minutes, you are out on your feet and it is very easy to say ‘ah f*** it, I’ll stay down’ but when you hear the crowd roaring and chanting, you get up quick and that is when you find that extra inch or that extra mile or extra step to make that block.

“The fellas did that today and we have to take our hats off to the supporters today.”
