League programme almost wiped out

Despite a weekend that features lots of sunshine and little rain, the Gallogly Catering Division One programme was heavily hit last weekend with only two games taking place out of the five fixed contests.

Among the games that were postpoined included the meeting of County finalists Glencar/Manorhamilton and Mohill while Annaduff and Kiltubrid and Carrigallen against Aughawillan also failed to take place.

All-Ireland Final weekend traditionally features a lot of postponements but it is ironic given that they are the only club team to border Donegal and the huge interest in the area in the fortunes of Jim McGuinness’ side that Melvin Gaels were able to fulfill their fixture against St. Mary’s, winning 2-10 to 0-9 courtesy of two late goals.

Drumreilly also scored an important win over their neighbours Ballinamore Sean O’Heslin’s, winning 2-6 to 0-7 to lift their relegation fears somewhat.

Most clubs have two games remaining, although Mohill have four games to play while both Melvin Gaels and Glenfarne/Kiltyclogher have two games left.
