Brian Breen pointed to the fragile nature of Leitrim’s confidence as one of the key factors in the loss to Armagh.

The joint manager said “We felt after the London game with the injury crisis, we were fragile mentally going into the game. We talked about needing a good start and the fact that we didn’t make a good start shattered any mental stability we had.”

The breakdown in Leitrim’s confidence was key - “Fellows didn’t do the basics, all of a sudden, guys started kicking the ball away, putting the head down going into tackles, getting dispossessed. We weren’t moving upfront and we were losing the ball in the tackle every single time.

“Everything we did when we were winning earlier in the year, all the things we did when we won the FBD with, we were moving the ball fast, we were moving off the ball, we were off the shoulder, all of them things were not evident today and it is very hard to pin down why.

“It is a mental state of mind and we were very frail today and the fact that they got the couple of early goals shattered that.”
