Seven candidates will be interviewed on Thursday for the position of Leitrim Senior Football team manager with the Leitrim County Board hoping to ratify an apppointment on Friday evening.
Leitrim GAA County Board Secretary Diarmuid Sweeney informed clubs in an email tonight (Tuesday) that “After conclusion of interviews a recommendation for the appointment to the position of Leitrim Senior football team manager 2014 shall be presented to the County Committee for ratification” at Friday’s specially convened County Commitee meeting.
The Board also revealed the short-list for interviews, which the Observer understands will be held on Thursday, and it includes out-going joint managers Brian Breen and George Dugdale.
Former Glencar/Manorhamilton and Sligo Minor manager Glenn Young is among those nominated as is former Melvin Gaels manager Billy Gavigan while current Glenfarne/Kiltyclogher boss and 1994 Connacht Championship winning goal-keeper Martin McHugh is on the list.
Former Leitirm star Derek Kellegher is also nominated as is Sean Hagan who guided Kiltubrid to the Leitrim Senior title in 2006 and the last Leitrim team to win a game in the Connacht Club Championship is also nominated.
The final name on the list is Westmeath Games Promotion Administrator Eddie Bouabbse in what is regarded as a wide-open race.
The meeting to ratify the new manager will be held at 8.30 pm on Friday evening in Pairc Sean Mac Diarmada.
