Players take full responsibility

Kevin Conlan may have scored eight points last Saturday but all his thoughts were of taking responsibility for the loss to Armagh.

The Dromahair man refused to hide behind excuses in the raw aftermath of the hammering from Armagh - “You can start looking at injuries, you can point the finger at different things but at the end of the day, it is the players on the field that should, that will take responsibility for this.

“We all know ourselves that it simply wasn’t good enough. We are after letting ourselves down, our families, our supporters, it is just not good enough. We will have to do a serious recap of ourselves but I stress that it is just ourselves, just the players, we take full responsibility for this .”

For a year that started quite promisingly, Kevin agreed 2013 will not be remembered fondly - “It really has gone pear shaped the last couple of weeks, we set goals and they just seem to be punctured almost.

“The mentality was very good, we had to stay positive, there is no point in pointing the finger or looking for excuses but we were getting set-backs but it just told today. We are going to have to regroup and put in a serious amount of work, there are no short-cuts, it is just hard work.”
