John Miller Connacht Minor Ladies Championship

Leitrim 1-5

Roscommon 2-12

Leitrim trailed by six points at halftime but when Roscommon up the pace in the second half, the home team had no response as they stormed to a 14 point win and condemn Leitrim to a poor start in the competition where, last year, they went on to claim the All-Ireland B Shield title.

Before the game even started, it was hard to imagine that this was the first round of a Championship as the referee was looking for umpires and lines people which should have been preselected prior to this game instead of having Leitrim and Roscommon officials doing such jobs.

In windy conditions, Roscommon applied pressure from the start and made a clean sweep through the field resulting in a point from Deirdre Regan after some early wides.
