Leitrim’s hopes of promotion in the Allianz League Division 4 ended last Sunday despite the Green & Gold not kicking a ball in anger.
With Leitrim due to play London next Sunday, with an earlier than usual throw-in time of 1 pm, all hopes of an unlikely promotion push were ended with victories for both Offaly and Longford over Carlow and Wicklow.
Both Offaly and Longford, relegated from Division 3 last year, have nine points with two games left and while Leitrim have three games remaining, their highest possible points tally is eight points meaning they are out of the running for promotion.
Antrim and Carlow still retain a small hope of a promotion push but Leitrim, Wicklow, Waterford and London will remain in Division 4 for 2016.
Manager Shane Ward will be looking to the rest of the League to build momentum for the Championship match against Galway in May while the Connacht Junior Championships is also fast approaching.
