Gaelcholaiste catering for Leitrim students to open in Sligo

It has been announced that a Gaelcholáiste (Irish speaking secondary school) will open in Sligo from September 2017. The school will operate as an 'ionad' (unit) on the grounds of the Mercy College, Sligo.

The school will cater for students from Gaelscoil Chluainín in Manorhamilton and Gaelscoil Liatroma in Carrick-on-Shannon as well as students from south Donegal, north Roscommon and Sligo.

Pupils who did not attend a Gaelscoil will be very welcome to enrol and it is expected that the demand will be such that in the forthcoming years that an independent Gaelcholáiste will be established.
