Fourth and fifth class students from Leitrim National School recently made a presentation of €764 to representatives of Leitrim talking Newspaper.

The money was raised following a jumble sale organised by the students. Following the presentation a spokesperson for the Talking newspaper told the Observer “The Leitrim Talking Newspaper (LTN) is very pleased to accept this generous donation from the students of St. Joseph’s National School, Leitrim Village. It will enable the purchase of additional posting wallets and memory sticks which are used to distribute the Talking Newspaper to our client base of visually impaired listeners. Each week a different group of volunteers get together in our studio, at the Bank of America site in Carrick on Shannon, to record the Leitrim Observer newspaper using a laptop, mixing desk and memory stick copier.

The LTN would be very pleased to hear from other visually impaired people that would like to receive this service and also from anyone that would like to join an existing team of volunteers or alternatively establish a four person team of their own to edit, record and operate the equipment.”

Please contact the LTN Secretary on 086 1539699 for further information.
