Liam wins Connacht Intermediate cross-country

Liam Feely of North Leitrim AC was Leitrim’s only outright winner when he took the Connacht AAI Intermediate Mens’ Cross Country title in favourable weather conditions at Sligo Racecourse on Saturday last.

Liam Feely of North Leitrim AC was Leitrim’s only outright winner when he took the Connacht AAI Intermediate Mens’ Cross Country title in favourable weather conditions at Sligo Racecourse on Saturday last.

He held off the challenge of the Sligo duo Eamon McAndrew and Alan Kearns to record a good victory.

Ballinamore’s Laura O’Dowd in the Under 18 Girls race and their Under 14 Boys team were also among the medals.

In the Under 12 Boys event the first Leitrim finisher was Oisin McLoughlin in seventh position. Along with him Jordan Reynolds of Mohill AC, who finished 11th, secured All Ireland qualification as members of the Connacht team. Ballinamore finished sixth behind Westport, Ballinasloe & District (48), North Sligo (78), Sligo A C (81) and Swinford (103).

The other Ballinamore placings were Dylan Beirne (29), Fergal McLoughlin (40) and James Honeyman (43).
