With a big feature race, cheaper admission for ladies and the chance to meet a well known celebrity, there’s something for everyone at Roscommon Races next week.

A big attendance is expected over the two days with the Connacht National down for decision while business people and budding entrepreneurs will get to meet well known personality Gavin Duffy, one of the investors on ‘Dragon’s Den’.

Roscommon Race Committee have decided to allocate the Tuesday evening as a Girl’s Evening out and all girls attending this meeting will gain admission for just €5.

On Monday, racing gets underway at 6 p.m. and the card is a mix of flat and national hunt racing. The feature race is the www.thetote.com Connacht National, which is sure to attract huge interest while Dermot Hughes Toyota Car Sales, Budweiser and EBF also sponsor races on the evening.

Roscommon Race Committee is also hosting a Business Advice Evening with RTE’s dragon, Gavin Duffy. Participants will have their own private function room. This event will be strictly limited. For details contact roscommonracecourse@eircom.net or phone 087 2203288. This event must be pre-booked.

“We’re committed to providing an enjoyable an evening as is possible here at Roscommon Racecourse and with two good days’ racing promised, the appearance of Gavin Duffy and a special admission rate for ladies, we’d like to think that there’s something for everyone on Monday and Tuesday,” commented Mr Finneran.

On Tuesday, racing starts at 5.50 and is made up of three flat races, three hurdle races and a bumper. Sponsors on the evening are the Roscommon Herald, Sean Naughton Auctioneer, The Abbey Hotel, Roscommon, Gerry Igoe Land Drainage and EBF.

On both evenings there will be music in the main bar, which starts after the second last race. Also on both days there will be a free bets competition on the race card.
