Ranking Tournament: Congrats to Joe McGuire, Dromahair who won the Junior event and reached the final of the U-21 at the recent four held in Ballinasloe, Co.Galway. Joe also did likewise at the first event held in Kilkenny. Well done to Niall Sweeney who reached the quarter final of the men’s event and Gavin Donnelly who qualified for the last 32 to be played the next day, Sunday. Unfortunately, Gavin had to attend to other committments at home and so had to forfeit his games. Well done to all the Juniors who attended along with Colin Crossan, Liam Shanley and Leitrim Ladies Judy O’Brien and Maggie Brolly.

County Pool League: With a total of 14 teams contesting the League, it was taken in two groups. Group A Club F Effernagh home games Friday nights, Duignan’s Drumsna Thursday nights, Cardiff B Friday Drumcong, Blue Devon Dromahair Thursday, O’Carolan’s Keadue Tuesday, Taylor’s Drumsna and Mulvey’s, Jamestown Friday nights.

In Group B Shivnan’s Ballyfarnon Thursday, the Central Manorhamilton Friday, Carthy’s Lock 17 Thursday Cardiff’s A Friday, The Venue Carrick-on-Shannon Thursday, Monica’s and Leitrim Inn, Thursday nights.

The top three teams from each group will go into the main competition for the Carthy Cup. Bottom three in each group qualify to play in the Shield. Fourth placed teams will play-off to decide Carthy Cup or Shield. The two new groups will play six home and away fixtures, which will be decided by draw. The top 4 teams will be drawn to play in semi-finals.

This week’s draw Group A: Taylor’s v Mulvey’s Friday; O’Carolan’s v Club F Thursday; Cardiff’s B v Blue Devon. Group B: Shivnan’s v Cardiff’s A; Leitrim Inn v Monica’s; Carthy’s v Venn. The Leitrim Pool Association welcome all the teams taking part and hope that an enjoyable season will be had by all participants.

Special Needs Tournament: November 12, is the date set for the tournament to be held in Carthy’s Lock 17, Leitrim Village. The annual event in aid of Saint Ciaran’s Carrick-on-Shannon is a very worthy cause. A duck race will be held on the day in aid of funds for the LPA on the Shannon, same day. Please support both events.
