Leitrim’s Bike Week is an integral part of the overall National Bike Week initiative and is organised by Leitrim Local Sports Partnership in conjunction with the Leitrim County Council.

Speaking at the launch of Leitrim Bike Week, Jackie Maguire, County Manager highlighted the objectives of Leitrim Bike Week 2012. “We are encouraging people of all ages and abilities to get involved in this year’s Bike week events. We have increased the number of events on offer to the public and hope that more people will get involved as a result.” 

Declan Boyle coordinator of the Leitrim Sports Partnership outlined, Leitrim County Council in conjunction with Leitrim Sports Partnership will be rolling out a number of exciting cycling events to celebrate Bike Week in Leitrim. We have a range of different cycling events taking place throughout the County, including a number of primary Schools and community family fun cycle’s events.

The Bike Week Events in Leitrim are as follows:

Family fun bike day in Kiltubrid GAA grounds on Saturday June 16, 10.00 – 12.00.

Sean O’Heslin’s GAA club, Ballinamore parish family cycle and Trail Blazers bicycle shop will be hosting a bike maintenance and safety workshop in Ballinamore, 7.00 – 9.00 in town centre beside the old court house, on Monday June 18.

Primary School cycling sports days in Leitrim village on Tuesday & Wednesday, June 19 & 20, 10.00-3.00.

Cycle to Work Company Challenge - Leitrim County Council are encouraging and promoting a cycle to work activities in companies across the county. Companies will be encouraged to increase the number of staff who cycle to work on Wednesday, June 20.

Blazers Basketball club family cycling day and safety awareness training in Ballinamore Boys NS on Friday, June 22, 10.00 – 3.00.

Trail Blazers bicycle shop will be hosting a bike maintenance and safety workshop in the Market Yard, Carrick-on-Shannon on Thursday, June 21, 12.00 -3.00.

After-School programme, safer cycling training day in Mohill GAA grounds on Friday, June 22, 10.00 – 3.00.

Dromahair Demons’ Festival, family fun day cycle and cycling sports day on Saturday, June 23, 2.00 – 4.00.

Sean O’Heslin’s GAA club organising a club charity cycle to Castlebar on Saturday, June 23, 8.30 – 3.00.
