Sunday’s AAI Games in Athlone saw our athletes continue their excellent indoor season form with both Gerard O’Donnell and Eanna Madden setting new personal bests in two events.

Sunday’s AAI Games in Athlone saw our athletes continue their excellent indoor season form with both Gerard O’Donnell and Eanna Madden setting new personal bests in two events.

Gerard won the 60m Hurdles in 8.23 secs to smash his previous best of 8.34 and just outside the stadium record of 8.22. He then ran a new outright pb of 22.73 in the 200m where Eanna Madden ran a staggering new pb of 22.36, well faster than his outdoor best of 22.80. Eanna also set a new pb over 60m, 7.15 to beat his previous best of 7.28.

Daire Farrell continued his return to action with a fine 51.89 over 400m, finishing very strongly to just miss the win in his race. Cathal McElgunn finished strongly but was outside his best over 200m, running 24.18, while Cian Murray suffered a spiking midway through his 800m before going on to clock 2.10.08.

Well done to our members who qualified for the Connacht Schools Cross-country Finals at last Wednesday’s North Connachts. Elise & Kasey Bruen, Lauren Hackett, Roisin McGreneghan and Hannah Bird all qualified with their teams.
