Carrick gears up for Leitrim Women’s 5K Road Race

Any women intending on taking part in this year’s Women’s Mini-Marathon will have a great chance to have a dress rehershal next Wednesday, May 22, when Carrick-on-Shannon hosts the Leitrim Women’s Open 5K Road Race.

Any women intending on taking part in this year’s Women’s Mini-Marathon will have a great chance to have a dress rehershal next Wednesday, May 22, when Carrick-on-Shannon hosts the Leitrim Women’s Open 5K Road Race.

Organised by the Leitrim Sports Partnership in association with Leitrim’s County Athletics Board, the Women’s 5k run/walk/jog in Carrick-on-Shannon gets underway at 7.30 and is a great chance for those intending running on the June Bank Holiday weekend to get in much needed race practice.

The event was the brainchild of the Leitrim Athletic County Board in 2011 and enthusiastically taken up by Leitrim Sports Partnership and funded by the Irish Sports Council. The objective of this event is to create a fun day, for mothers, daughters, sisters and friends. Leitrim Sports Partnership will be encouraging all women in Leitrim to get out, get fit, and have fun in each other company at this fantastic event

The 5k race is open to serious athletes, fun runners and walkers. It can act as a major fundraiser for charities especially local charities. The entry fee is €10 per person and the registration will be in the Carrick Sports complex from 6.00 – 7.30pm on Wednesday, May 22.
