Trident Swim Club was on the podium again last weekend when two of its members travelled to Salthill to take part in the Connacht Short Course Championships held in Leisureland.
Trident swimmers and siblings, Gabriella Weaver (14) and Luke Weaver (13), both took part in the two day competitions. On day one, the pair both competed in the 50M Breast Stroke events in their respective age groups, with Luke notching up a personal best in a time of 44:96 seconds, and Gabriella taking the bronze medal in a time of 36:13. Luke also took part in the 50M Freestyle event and the 100M Individual Medley, again recording personal bests in both of these events.
Gabriella went on to take the silver medals in both the 50M Freestyle and the 100M Individual Medley events and also achieved personal bests in three more events the following day in the 200M Individual Medley, the 50M Back Crawl and the 200M Breast Stroke. The Trident member also achieved another Connacht Squad time and is currently the only swimmer in the county to hold this accolade.
Land-based training for Trident members will be taking place during the Christmas holidays and swimmers interested in taking part should contact the club for more details. For further information, call 086 859 4497.
