2,000 cyclists from all over the country are expected to be on the starting line for the extremely popular An Post Tour of Sligo over the May Bank Holiday weekend.

Singer/songwriter Bressie is the ambassador for the An Post Tour of Sligo 2014 on May 4. Bressie is no stranger to cycling and he revealed he will be using the An Post Tour of Sligo as preparation for the St. Polston Iron Man in Austria a fortnight later.

“I think it’s the perfect sportive for me this year. It’s in May, its two weeks before the Iron Man and its very hard. It’s my last major test, I suppose, where I can go at race pace. It’s perfect training for me and it’s obviously one of the best run events in the country”.

The event headquarters at the Knocknarea Arena, Institute of Technology Sligo will be a hive of activity over the May Bank Holiday weekend commencing with the Family Fun Day and 10K Hazelwood Spin for All, and the 2K Bike Trail on Saturday May 3.

From early morning on Sunday May 4, cyclists ranging from the experienced to the relative newcomer will assemble for an event of their choice which includes the 160K Ox Mountain Challenge, the 100K Innisfree Tour and the 60K Lough Gill Circuit.

Cyclists are encouraged to raise sponsorship for Special Olympics Connaught which is the worthy charity nominated for the event this year.

The event is capped at 2,000 participants and hence all cyclists intending to participate are encouraged to register well in advance and avoid disappointment by checking out www.tourofsligo.ie.
