Two wins not enough for Drumshanbo

Even better, Kiltimagh had beaten one of their later opponents Mercy Roscommon.

Then there was a break for Drumshanbo. As sometimes happens, momentum is lost. Drumshanbo lost their top form, The other teams improved. Drumshanbo lost their last two matches and, on set difference, lost their chance of advancing further.

All panel had their moments; Ailish Barry scored on serves. Lauren Wynne and Paula Gilmartin were good at the net and Rosemary Gilrane covered the back well. Michelle Monaghan and Lorraine Beirne were quick to the ball in all positions. When they came on Marie Mulvey and Martina Burke won net points while Paula Lynch and Kathleen Timmons save some winners at the back.

Scores Drumshanbo lost 14-25 17-25 to Roscommon, and 15-25 18-25 to Balla

Drumshanbo beat Portlaoise 25-11 25-12 and ,in a cliffhanger, beat Kiltimagh 25-20 27-25. Kiltimagh and Balla qualified for next stage.
