A hearty congratulations to Laura Reynolds a member of Mohill & District AC who achieved the Olympic ‘A’ standard on Saturday last in La Coruna in Spain in an IAAF Grand Prix Race-walk over 20km.
Laura finished in a time of 1:32:37 just under a minute under the ‘a’ standard of 1:33:30. Laura had already achieved the ‘B’ standard twice on two separate occasions but couldn’t manage to dip under the ‘A’ until Saturday last.
This was Laura’s last chance to make London 2012 and by keeping her composure throughout the whole 20km race. Laura now joins her coach Ballinamore AC’s Colin Griffin on the Irish team for London. Well done Laura form everybody at Mohill & District AC.
It is an honour to represent Mohill, Leitrim and Ireland on such a big world athletics stage as the Olympics. Well done again Laura from all your fellow athletes, committee and parents at Mohill & District AC, we are all so proud of you and all know you are going to shine as our golden girl in London on August 11.
Pairs: Well done to everybody who competed in the Team U-9, 10 & 11 Connacht competition which was held in Dangan, Galway on Saturday last. You all ran and jumped very well but were unlucky to not pick up medals.
