Great turnout for new European Pool champion Jamie

Despite the very inclement weather, a large crowd of supporters turned out in Leitrim Village and Ballyfarnon to welcome home the newly crowned Champion Jamie Gaffney.

As the bonfire burned, Mary Shivnan welcomed the new Champion home and spoke at length of Jamie’s achievements with John Casey, chairman of the Leitrim Pool Association paying tribute to a great hero, saying the Leitrim teams included some of Roscommon’s players giving great credit to the game.

John thanked all who came to meet Jamie with a special thanks to his parents, brothers and sister for all their support and Willie Donnellan for his camera work. Jamie would also like to thank Sasta and Lyric Pool and Snooker Sales who sponsored him and all who supported him.

County Pool League: In the path to the semifinals of the JW Carthy Cup and Oliver Lee Shield on this Thursday March 6, in the JW Carthy Cup, the Venue play Blue Devon in the Venue with the Devon predicted to win about 8-7.

Lock 17 should overcome Carthy’s but only with the European Champion team on the Carthy team, it will be close with both teams at home.

On Friday,with Taylor’s at home, they should take the extra frame or two to Monica’s Inn in the Oliver Lee Shield this Thursday night March 6.

A win for Gings’s at home to Mulvey’s and a win for Duignan’s with a home advantage to Kenoy’s and despite home advantage, Cardiff’s could lose to Club F on Friday March 7.
