Carrick-on-Shannon Rowing Club is in the final stages of their preparations for one of the happiest days in their rich history when the official opening of their new Boathouse on Friday, September 28.

The President and committee of Carrick Rowing Club would like to invite members, former members, parents, supporters and all our friends to join us for the official opening of the new boathouse on Friday week at 6pm. The new boat house is a huge additon to our facilities made possible with the support of Leitrim Development Company.

The new boat shed and storage yard tie in with the main boat house which officially opened in 1998. We hope in time to kit out the new boat house with a full fleet of boats to cater for new and old members taking to the shannon.

Carrick Rowing Club will also be taking the opportunity on the evening for a boat naming in honour of one of our most prestigious members. We look forward to seeing you all on the evening.

AGM: Carrick Rowing Club AGM is set for Tuesday, September 25, at 8 pm in the club room. With the new 2012/2013 season coming up on us fast we look forward to seeing as many members, former members, parents and supporters as possible at this meeting.

2013 is going to be a very busy season on the water with many new members taking to the water at the weekends along with some seasoned rowers. We also have dates for the Head of the Shannon on February 23, and our annual Regatta on August 4.

Carrick Rowing Club also hopes to participate in and organise some events in conjunction with the Carrick 400 celebrations and the June bank holiday weekend festival. From this alone you can see that our little corner of Carrick will be a hive of activity in the coming 12 months.

At a national level 2013 is also going to be the year of “The Gathering” and while Ireland is gathering people from far flung places we would love to see a gathering with a difference, we would love to gather in and put on the water as many former members and former Oarspeople as possible.

Rowing is a fantastic pastime and the Shannon river is on our doorsteps to be enjoyed by as many as possible so we would love to see you coming down to the club for a paddle. For any enquiries please contact us at carrickrc@gmail.com
