Leitrim’s Community Games swimmers enjoyed unprecedented success at last weekend’s HSE National Community Games Finals in Athlone, winning four medals.
Kinlough’s Ordhan and Eanna O’Hara and Gero Gilmartin all brought home silver medals from their events while Liadan Ruddy also took home a silver medal.
Ordhan took second in the U12 breakstroke with brother Eanna second in the U14 Breaststroke. Gero claimed second in the U10 Freestyle while Liadan’s silver came in the U8 Girls freestyle.
Dromahair’s Carrie McDaid reached the U14 Girls Backstroke Final while John James O’Hara (U8 Freestyle), Ciara Lynch (U14 Freestyle), Laoise Fee (U12 Breaststroke), Hannah Gilmartin (U12 Freestyle) and Jennifer Andrews (U12 Backstroke) all reached the semi-finals of their events in an outstanding series of results for the county’s swimmers.
Next weekend, it is the turn of the county’s athletes and footballers to compete in Athlone.
