Leitrim Rose Niamh Flanagan was unsuccessful in her bid to make the International Rose of Tralee at the Regional Final in Portlaoise at the weekend.

Niamh was one of 28 Irish Roses looking to get the eight places for Tralee this August. Although Niamh was unlucky she had an amazing weekend, she attended glamorous balls, met dignatories and came away with a whole new group of friends. Niamh was supported in Portlaoise by a large contingent from Aughawillan and around the county.

Part time student Niamh gave a great on stage interview with Daithi O Se and was reported to have mixed well and let her natural bubbly personality shine throughout the entire weekend.

Niamh will be an ambassador for the county over the next 12 months and you will be able to see her at a host of events in connection with Leitrim.

The Roses who were chosen to go forward to the televised selection in Tralee from Ireland were Down, Mayo, Kilkenny, Waterford, Tyrone, Louth and Westmeath.

The Rose of Tralee International Festival will take place from Friday 17th to Tuesday 21st August and full details can be found at www.roseoftralee.ie
