Trocaire boxes stolen from Church

On April 12, Holy Thursday a number of Trocaire boxes were stolen from the porch of St Patrick’s Church, Ballinamore.

On April 12, Holy Thursday a number of Trocaire boxes were stolen from the porch of St Patrick’s Church, Ballinamore.

V. Rev Charles Heerey Parish Priest told the Leitrim Observer that a number of boxes had been placed into the boxes at the front porch of the open church on Main Street. It is not known how many boxes were stolen.

Rev Heerey said it was “very sad” that someone could do that, but told the paper that the culprits are known.

Rev Heerey said this is the third time the church has been stolen from, money from the candles have been taken twice before.

This year, Trócaire’s Lenten campaign focused on communities in northern Uganda who are trying to rebuild their lives after 20 years of war.
