Applications still open for Back to School Allowance

The Back to School Clothing and Footwear Allowance for the 2013/14 school year is still open for applications until the end of September, Fine Gael Councillor for the Ballinamore Electoral Area Gordon Hughes has reported.

The Back to School Clothing and Footwear Allowance (BTSCFA) helps families meet the cost of uniforms and footwear for children going to school. The scheme operates from June to September each year. The payment rates for the 2013 Back to School Clothing and Footwear Allowance scheme are €100 in respect of children aged 4 to 11 on 30th September 2013 and €200 for children aged 12 to 22 on 30th September 2013,” he said.

“Families who received the payment in the past may have received this year’s payment already. But if you think you might be eligible, applications are available in all social welfare local offices and online at www.welfare.ie. While applications are accepted up until the end of September, you are advised not to delay it may take several weeks to process an application.

Income limits for couples 2013:

Couple and the income limit

1 child - €563.60

2 children - €593.40

3 children - €623.20

4 children - €653*

*The income limit is increased by €29.80 for each additional dependent child.

2 children - €439.90

3 children - €469.70

4 children - €499.50*
