Gardai are urging homeowners to remain vigilant and keep neighbours informed if they are leaving their properties for any length of time after four homes were targeted by thieves over the weekend.

In a very worrying development, a shotgun and cabinet were stolen from a house at Boeshill, outside Ballinamore on Saturday night, May 26. The raiders forced their way into the unoccupied home via the back door some time between 10 and 11pm, disabling the home alarm system.

A home in Fenagh was targeted by raiders some time between 8pm on Saturday night and 8pm on Sunday, last. The home was completely ransacked by the thieves who gained access via a back window.

Two homes were also broken into and ransacked between Mohill and Keshcarrigan some time between 10am and 12pm on Sunday morning last. Gardai said they were investigating the possibility that some of the burglaries may have been linked.

They are appealing for anyone who may have been in the area near any of these properties over the weekend, and may have noticed any suspicious vehicles or persons, to contact them immediately on (071) 9644002. They are also urging people be vigilant and to join their local text alert scheme in a bid to combat these types of crimes.
