Minister of State for Gaeltacht Affairs Dinny McGinley is to launch a monograph at Parke’s Castle on May 23.

A monograph by Claire Foley & Colm Connelly entitled “Parke’s Castle, Co. Leitrim: Archaeology, History and Architecture,” will be launched by the Minister at 4pm on May 23.

The event will see guided tours available before and after the launch at the 17th Century restored plantation castle on the shores of Lough Gill. Once the home of Robert Parke and his family, the Courtyard grounds contain evidence of an earlier 16th century Tower House structure once owned by Sir Brian O’Rourke who subsequently was executed at Tyburn, London in 1591. The Castle has been restored using Irish oak and traditional craftsmenship.
