As its name suggests, there will be a different picture each month and these items will be chosen from the Local Studies Photographs, Posters and Art Collection. The February ‘Picture of the Month’ is a framed photograph of Main Street, Ballinamore taken about 1929 or earlier, which was donated to Leitrim County Library by Columba Cryan in 2011. In the picture there are only 2 motor vehicles parked along the street. There is also a number of ESB Poles visible, which would suggest that electricity was supplied to the town at that time. There are a number of shops with items on display outside. P. Stenson is a name over the door of one shop on Lower Main Street. Opposite Stenson’s shop, it would appear that there was a hardware shop with items on display outside.

There are names over the doors of some shops but they are not clearly shown. So if anyone has local knowledge to the names of the shops it would be very much welcomed by staff.

Opening hours are Mon, Wed & Fri 10 - 5.30; Tues & Thur 10 - 8; Sat 10 – 5, with daily lunch closing 1.30 – 2.30pm.
