Beating off stiff competition from secondary schools across the North-West region, Carrick student Elise Bruen has been selected to compete at the Connacht Gold Junior Chef Challenge 2013 which is running as part of the Só Sligo Food and Culture Festival.

Beating off stiff competition from secondary schools across the North-West region, Carrick student Elise Bruen has been selected to compete at the Connacht Gold Junior Chef Challenge 2013 which is running as part of the Só Sligo Food and Culture Festival.

Elise attends Carrick-on-Shannon Community School, Leitrim and was encouraged to enter by her teacher Ms. Wallace.

Seamus Hannon, Connacht Gold national sales manager said, “We are delighted to be running this competition which celebrates local produce while encouraging budding chefs to put their skills to the test. The standard was exceptionally high this year and I would like to wish Elise the very best of luck in the grand finale.”

Open to secondary school students across the North-west region, the Connacht Gold Junior Chef Challenge will see 16 finalists battle it out at St. Angela’s College, Lough Gill, Co. Sligo this Friday, May 3. The winner will receive an iPad mini and the opportunity to gain a day’s work experience with TV3 resident chef, Joe Shannon at the Radisson Blu, Sligo.
