The widely acclaimed Lady Wok is to visit Manorhamilton on Saturday, July 27 as part of a fundraising drive for the local culinary team.

The North West Culinary Team, a group of chefs from counties Leitrim, Donegal and Sligo, are scheduled to compete in the world culinary championships in 2014.

Speaking to the Leitrim Observer this week, spokesperson for the team, Gabriel McSharry, said, “We have about 25 members; young, senior men and woman who want to promote the local region in terms of tourism and in particular our regional food. We believe that we have the best quality food in the world produced locally and at our fingertips, and we want to expose this great food product to the rest of the world. Our shores contain an abundance of beautiful seafood, sea vegetables and a host of other marine foods.”

Mr McSharry thanked novelty fortune teller, Lady Wok, for taking the time to assist in fundraising for the team and in particular the Manorhamilton Show committee for their help and support.

“We intend to compete as an international culinary team at Hotelympia London next year. We are requesting people involved in the Hotel, catering and restaurant industry and the general public in this region to support us in our efforts to promote our region and help us to help the local industry promote our food and hopefully create jobs for our people,” he said.

Earlier this year the North West Culinary team took, four Gold, four Silver and six Bronze Medals at the Chef Ireland International competition held in the RDS Dublin.

“Over the coming months we will have a number of fundraising events which will assist us in the gathering of the much needed funds, again we appeal to the general public to support us in this venture. It is our view that all things are possible with the help and support of the local people. This team is fully committed; the management of the premises in which they work are fully committed. We have everything to gain for our region. Be part of our effort and we will achieve our objective, by visiting the novelty fortune teller Lady Wok at the Manorhamilton Show on Saturday, the 27th of July,” concluded Mr McSharry.
