The 6th Sligo Dip in the Nip takes place in on the 29th June. This year, it is one of five Dips taking place around Ireland as part of a national campaign.
Three have taken place so far: Galway, Dublin and Cork.
So far, the Cork Dip is the biggest, with nearly 200 people, including 30 men, running into the sea. To date, Sligo has 140 people registered, including 19 men. With just under 2 weeks to go, Máire Garvey, Founder and Chief Dipper with Dip in the Nip, would like to see Sligo surpass Cork.
Máire is appealing to people to come along and surpass Cork’s 200 mark, so she needs at least another 60 people to sign up.

All the proceeds from the Dip in Sligo go to SHOUT (Sligo Hospital Oncology Unit Trust).
