Leitrim Sub-Aqua club ran its 7th annual Swim, Fin & Snorkel from Jamestown to Drumsna last Saturday with an estimated 50 swimmers turning out to support the event while enjoying a great family barbeque and face painting.

Leitrim Sub-Aqua club ran its 7th annual Swim, Fin & Snorkel from Jamestown to Drumsna last Saturday with an estimated 50 swimmers turning out to support the event while enjoying a great family barbeque and face painting.

The event was organised in association with North West Simon.

Thanks to volunteer Veronica Kelly for her assistance with facepainting. Thanks to all who supported the raffle in Duignans Pub afterwards. Together almost €1,500 was raised, a great help to both organizations in difficult times.

This event went ahead with the help of the Civil Defence, River Adventure Carrick on Shannon and Carrick Craft. Thankfully as always everyone returned from the swim safe and energetic for the next one!

The North West Simon Community would like to personally thank Gerry Gilroy from Leitrim Sub Aqua Club and Elvira for their hard work in putting this event together, the charity really appreciate your support for the last three years and wish you every success with this event in the future.

The North West Simon Community are working to prevent people in Sligo, Leitrim & Donegal from becoming homeless through the tenancy support programme and lifeskills courses.

North West Simon Community support people around issues such as addressing rent arrears and arrears with regard to utility bills including providing support and budgeting and accessing the Money Advice Service. They address health issues, help people accessing employment, training and leisure opportunities. They access welfare entitlements and information, give support with maintenance, repair and decoration and support people with lifeskills programmes.

The North West Simon Community liaise with statutory and voluntary service providers to meet various needs of service users in all three counties. Simon Week is approaching (Sept 29th to 5th Oct) and if you wish to host a coffee morning, take part in a Street Sleep or help out in any way please contact Mary on 087 7708865.
