The nominations received on their behalf listed the many many achievements of the couple in relation to their work on behalf of the county and it’s people, some of the actions carried out publicly while many more are done outside the limelight and without public acknowledgement.

Indeed, in some cases their philanthropic actions have demanded anonymity. Their contribution to the community, the GAA, to tourism, to the St George’s Heritage and Visitors Centre, are just some of the many items mentioned in the nomination.

The award will be presented to Joe & Rosie at the launch of the Leitrim Guardian 2016 on November 27 in the Kiltyclogher Community Centre.

The Leitrim Guardian 2016 will be the 48th issue of this journal, produced entirely through voluntary effort.

The last copies of the Leitrim Guardian 2015 edition can still be found in the shops or ares available online at www.leitrimguardian.ie
