Charlie Lennon’s new suite A Terrible Beauty – Áille na hÁille will be performed this Thursday, May 12 in the Pro Cathedral at 7.30pm.
This is the first performance in Dublin of the suite, commissioned by Gael Linn for the 1916 centenary, and will not only feature this new work, but will be accompanied by extracts from the accounts of priests who ministered in the streets of Dublin to the injured and the dying and to those who were executed in 1916.
The musicians will be led by Charlie Lennon, and include Elizabeth Cooney on violin, Ruth McGinley on piano, Éilís Lennon on violin, Mick O’Brien on uilleann pipes, Jim Higgins on percussion, and the Bohemian String Quartet.
The singers are Patricia Bourke d’Souza and Albert Llussa I Torra.
No tickets are required but there will be a retiring collection on the night to defray the expenses of the event.
Supported by Leitrim County Council under the 1916 Centenary Programme.
