Fine Gael Councillor, Enda McGloin, has welcomed the decision by members at the recent Council meeting to take Drumshanbo’s Hillcrest Grove and Ashdale estates in charge. Both developments are located at Drumcoora, Drumshanbo.
The Hillcrest Grove estate commenced construction in late 1999 and completed its third phase in 2009. For some years residents were concerned about the state of the roads around the estate however the completion of works took place some weeks ago and now officials from the Council and the developer Sean Hagan have agreed the outstanding works which were completed to the satisfaction of the building control unit of the local authority.
The smaller Ashdale estate was developed in the mid 2000s and was completed some three years ago.
The result of this ‘taking in charge’ will be that Leitrim County Council will take responsibility for the roads, lighting, water and sewage and footpaths where the local residents will share responsibility for the green areas.
“I understand these estates are one of the first estates to be taken in charge in the Drumshanbo area and this is a welcome development for the people living there. “I wish to conclude by thanking the developers, Sean Hagan and Gerry Beirne alongside the building control section of the local authority for their work and co-operation.”
