The US Insurer Liberty Mutual is reported to be mounting a bid to take control of the remaining 50% of the former Quinn Insurance currently controlled by the IBRC.

The American company currently controls the insurer through a 50-50 joint venture with the former Anglo Irish Bank, but it wants to take full control of the insurance company.

A deal is expected to be done within a number of months, once an independent evaluation is completed by the bank for the holding.
