There has been lots of fundraising fun at RehabCare Centre in Ballinamore with their very successful 1 Day for Rehab events topping the bill!

There has been lots of fundraising fun at RehabCare Centre in Ballinamore with their very successful 1 Day for Rehab events topping the bill!

1 Day for Rehab, raised money to enhance the services provided by Rehab locally. In Ballinamore, they had a sponsored walk followed by a BBQ, cake sale, sale of work and a raffle.

Sheila O’Dowd, Community Services Manager, RehabCare said, “We would like to thank our local community and families for their ongoing support. We really appreciate it. We had a great 1 Day for Rehab and everyone who uses our service here in Ballinamore really enjoyed their day. We are very proud of our staff who, many of whom who were presented with Long Service Awards on the day.”

RehabCare enhances the quality of lives of people with disabilities by supporting them to fulfil personal goals, access new opportunities such as employment or education and to live more independent lives. 38 people currently use the services in Ballinamore.

As well as providing an after-hours outreach service, RehabCare has two supported accommodation houses in Ballinamore. Here, people can remain independent while enhancing their living skills.

Veronica McConnell has been living in one of the houses with three others for over 12 years. Veronica loves her home, “My bedroom is at the back of the house and I really like it because it’s lovely and quiet. I share the housework with the other girls.”

The centre always welcome volunteers or Supported Accommodation.
