Fine Gael Senator, Michael Comiskey, has called for a debate in the Seanad on Ireland’s energy policy, in light of the recent UN report on Climate Change.
“We need to undertake a holistic examination of our national energy policy. Now is the opportune time for this, while the review on the possible undergrounding of pylons is taking place,” he told the Leitrim Observer this week.
“I am really pleased that Minister Rabbitte has committed to a full public consultation process, before a new Energy Policy Framework is developed, and I encourage the people of Leitrim to get involved in this consultation.
“The possibilities for harnessing renewable energy and the resulting employment are opportunities that Leitrim has not availed of on a large scale.”
