Gardaí in Carrick-on-Shannon say they are following a definite line of inquiry in relation to an incident in which a Mohill man received a minor injury in the town last week.

A man entered Paddy Power bookmakers on Mercantile Plaza at approximately 2pm on Tuesday, March 31. He was followed in shortly afterby another and after a verbal disagreement between the pair, was stabbed in the finger. The man was treated locally.

Gardaí in the county town also believe that an abandoned taxi which was discovered in the town over the Bank Holiday weekend may be linked to a criminal incident which took place in Dublin recently. The vehicle was recovered at Cartown on the Drumshanbo Road outside the town.

Meanwhile, Gardaí in Cavan are appealing for witnesses to a collision which took place on the Cavan by-pass on Monday afternoon at approximately 5pm. A 44-year-old male was air-lifted to Beaumont Hospital after the car he was driving collided with another car being driven by a 24-year-old male.

The younger male was arrested at the scene on suspicion of dangerous driving and was brought to Cavan Garda Station.

Investigating Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to contact Cavan Garda Station on 049-4368800, the Garda Confidential Line 1-800-666-111 or any local Garda Station.
