On Tuesday, August 11th, 135 people availed of free health checks at the Ballinamore Agricultural Show.
The South Leitrim Primary Care Team and Community Health Forum hosted a stand at the show at which people were able to have their blood pressure, blood glucose and body mass index checked by public health nurses, the community dietician and two specialists diabetes nurses from HSE Sligo/Leitrim Services.
There was lots of information available about how to stay well by eating a healthy diet and being more physically active.
People also had an opportunity to meet other members of the primary care team and the local community health forum.
A free draw was held for a healthy hamper of fruit which was won by Maria McAreavey.
Thanks to everyone who helped on the day and to all the members of the public who availed of the checks.
Following on from the success of this event it is hoped to hold similar events in the future.
