Before it has even hit our TV screens, Chris O’Dowd’s comedy series ‘Moone Boy’ has been renewed for a second season by Sky One.

The TV Series which was part filmed in Boyle this year, was written and starred in by local comedian, TV star and Hollywood Actor Chris O’Dowd has been given the thumbs up for a second series two months before the station knows the viewers ratings.

Moone Boy is a comedy based on the childhood of Chris O’Dowd. The main character Martin Moone is played by carrigallen young lad David Rawle, while his imaginary friends is characterised by Chris o’Dowd. The show which is due to hit our screens on Sky One in September spent over a week filming in O’Dowd’s hometown of Boyle in January this year.

The announcement by Sky is great news for the town of Boyle as Chris O’Dowd had told the Leitrim Observer during filming in January that if a second series is commissioned they “will return to Boyle for longer” to film more scenes.

Series one of Moone Boy, made by Steve Coogan’s Baby Cow Productions is due to be aired in September with cameos by Steve Coogan, Deirdre O’Kane and Johnny Vegas.

O’Dowd is on cinema screens this week as he stars alongside Jon Hamm and Megan Fox in the comedy ‘Friends with Kids.’
