The Community Fund is available to provide support to local and community Gathering event organisers and activities/ projects which will drive international visitors to Leitrim.
The Fund is being administered locally by Leitrim County Council. The funds available to groups range from €500 to a maximum of €2,500 and will be directly related to the number of overseas visitors that will be delivered.
Various types of Gatherings will be considered for funding – it can include school reunions, sports clubs hosting overseas teams, music, cultural or business Gatherings involving overseas visitors. This list is by no means exhaustive.
The key criterion is the ability of the proposed Gathering to attract overseas visitors to the county locality. Priority will also be given to Gatherings which have emerged from the Gathering Ireland Community Meeting process.
There is no guarantee of funding for Gatherings which achieve the minimum eligibility criteria. Unfortunately the fund is limited and eligible applications will be evaluated on a competitive basis against the criteria detailed in the guidelines.
Leitrim County Council invites groups or organisations who are organising Gatherings / activities in 2013 to make applications for support under The Gathering Ireland Local Community Fund.
Application forms and guidelines are available on the Leitrim County Council website www.leitrimcoco.ie and also by contacting Michelle Reynolds on 071 9620005 ext 526 or by emailing email@example.com
Application Forms must be submitted before 5pm on November 30 and addressed to the Director of Services, Community & Enterprise, Leitrim County Council, Aras an Chontae, Carrick on Shannon, Co. Leitrim. The envelope must be endorsed “The Gatherings Community Fund Application Form.”
