The staff and students of Fatima National School in Cloone are putting the final touches to a very special celebration which will be held on June 21.

Fatima NS is marking its Golden Jubilee and celebrating its third Green Flag award and a new Discover Primary Science and Maths Excellence Award.

Jubilee celebrations will start at 1pm on June 21 with the launch of the school’s third Green Flag by, Tadhg McHugh. Tadhg was a member of the school’s first junior infants when the school first opened its doors in 1963. Incidentally, Tadhg’s son, Caoimhe, is now a member of this year’s junior infants class. Guests of honour of the day will include the 1963 Junior Infant Class and past staff members of the school. Retired Deputy Principal, Moira Clancy, will also unveil the latest Discover Primary Science and Maths Excellence award and two formers school Principals, John Fitzpatrick and Damian Brennan will help plant a Jubilee Oak Tree in the school grounds.

Rev Samuel Holmes PP will officially launch the pupils “We are writers” book, which will be on sale. There will also be an exhibition of school memorabilia and a special project charting the last 50 years.
