County looks set to be reunited

With the final recommendations of the Constituency Commission expected in roughly a month’s time the initial indications seem to be that Co Leitrim will once again be reunited in a single constituency with Co Sligo.

Although the Leitrim Observer does not know if parts of other counties will be included in the new constituency, it is likely the new area will be a four seater.

Campaigners have been calling for a reunification of the county for a number of years after the controversial decision was made to split Leitrim into the constituencies of Roscommon/South Leitrim and Sligo/North Leitrim, which caused massive upset in the county.
