The €240 million Eirgrid West project which is earmarked to cover Carrick-on-Shannon is holding a local information day in Ballaghdereen this Friday, June 15.
A dedicated information centre opened on Linenhall Street in Castlebar, Co. Mayo on Monday, June 11 as part of the first phase of public consultation.
The closest of the open meetings on the massive and controversial project is in Ballaghdereen’s Border Midland & Western Assembly offices this Friday, June 15 from 1-8pm.
To cope with the output from sustainable energy, the project is to construct a high capacity line linking Bellacorick in Co Mayo, with two more to be developed, one of which is in the Flagford area, just outside Carrick-on-Shannon.
The open day will include more local information and detailed maps of the proposed areas, there will be opportunities for questions and answers with members of the Grid West Project Team Members. This initial stage is designed to publish and gather information on the study area, the search area within which the project will be located.
Feedback on this phase of consultation can also be provided by contacting the project team by phone on 1890 940 802, by email to firstname.lastname@example.org or by post to Grid West Project Office, EirGrid, PO Box 12226, Dublin 4.
